Tamil Nadu: CM Joins The Run Against Drugs

Awareness on the ill effects of drugs was essential to protect the youth from falling prey to drugs and to prevent crimes: Chief Minister Vijay

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister actively ran for 6 km during a Start Run, Stop Drugs’ anti-drug run joining around 15,000 participants on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Vijay called for greater youth engagement in constructive activities to build a drug-free Tamil Nadu, while participating in the run in Chennai.

In a social media message, he stressed the need for awareness on the ill effects of drugs to prevent addiction and related crimes, and urged public support for the government’s efforts.
The Chief Minister flagged off the run from the Anna Memorial on Marina and joined participants en route to the Island Grounds, interacting with young runners. He also signed a plaque bearing the message, ‘Start Run, Stop Drugs – Sports ah edu, Drugs ah vidu’.
Several prominent sportspersons, including V. Bhaskaran, Mohamad Riyas, Thirumal Valavan, Joshna Chinappa and Anitha Pauldurai, participated in the event along with coaches and trainees of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
Other participants included Achanta Sharath Kamal, C.A. Bhavani Devi, Tarun Ayyasamy and Revathi, among others.
