Students Urged To Make India Developed Economy
The institution honoured five distinguished alumni with the Distinguished Alumni Awards 2026 for their outstanding professional achievements.
COIMBATORE: Students were urged to contribute to India’s transition towards a product-driven and developed economy, during the foundation day celebration of PSG College of Technology here in Coimbatore which also marked 75 years of excellence in technical education of the college.

Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder, Infosys, chairman-Axilor Ventures, and trustee of Pratiksha Trust and Pratithi Investment Trust, in his chief guest address, emphasised that India is on track to become the default global destination for R&D services and advanced technology solutions.
He described education, research, innovation and incubation as the four pillars of a future-ready institution. He urged students to build their careers on ethics and trust and called upon graduating engineers to contribute to India’s transition towards a product-driven and developed economy.
Presiding over the ceremony, L. Gopalakrishnan, managing trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities, paid tribute to the founder-principal of PSG College of Technology, Prof. G.R. Damodaran (GRD), and his enduring academic vision.
He urged faculty members and students to strengthen interdisciplinary research and industry collaboration. He reiterated the institution’s philosophy of ‘Honouring the past, strengthening the present, and shaping the future’.
Dr G. Thilagavathi, principal of the college, highlighted the college’s progress in research, doctoral education, funded projects, infrastructure development, student placements and academic and co-curricular achievements during the platinum jubilee year.
