Annaduarai’ 118th birth anniversary was celebrated by the ruling TVK with Speaker J C D Prabhakar and a slew of the State Ministers garlanding the Statue of Annadurai on Anna Salai and paying floral tributes to his portrait kept near the statue.
Chennai: The DMK postponed its ‘Muperum Vizha’ celebration on Tuesday as party president and former Chief Minister M K Stalin could not attend the event due to illness.
A press release from the party said that since Stalin was down with fever, the celebrations at the DMK headquarters on Tuesday were being put off. Stalin was also conspicuous by his absence at the C N Annadurai birth anniversary celebrations on Tuesday morning.
The ‘Muperum Vizha’ (Three Great Festivals) is an annual event organized by the DMK to commemorate three events connected to the party – the birth anniversary of founder Annadurai on September 15, the founding of DMK and the birth anniversary of Periyar E V Ramasamy on September 17.

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who is in London on an official trip to lure investors to the State, remembered Annaduarai in a social media message and called upon the people to take a pledge to uphold social justice, equality, fraternity and Tamil’s pride.
Stalin, in his social media message, said Annadurai would forever live in self-respect, social justice and state rights.
