Stalin to Vijay: Look for Me in People's Hearts
DMK leaders signal M.K. Stalin's possible return to the Assembly as the war of words with Chief Minister Joseph Vijay intensifies.

DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin has responded to remarks made by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay in the Assembly, saying, "Don't search for me in the Assembly, look for me in the people's hearts," amid growing speculation over his possible return to the House through upcoming by-elections.
The political debate gained momentum after Vijay, during proceedings in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, took a swipe at the DMK by asking, "Where is your father?"—a reference to Stalin's absence from the House following his defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Senior DMK leaders have since signalled that Stalin could make a comeback to the Assembly through the forthcoming by-elections. At a public meeting, senior DMK leader and MLA K.N. Nehru hinted that the former chief minister's return could happen sooner rather than later.
"He asked our leader, where is your father? He would come. Very soon, he would come in. That's all we can say now. He would return and take responsibility again. That's for sure. Till yesterday, all our cadres were quiet. But after he spoke, cadres across Tamil Nadu want this," Nehru said.
Stalin, who led the DMK campaign in the 2026 elections, lost the Kolathur constituency to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Since then, he has remained outside the Assembly, while his son and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin serves as the Leader of the Opposition.
Responding to the political jibes and speculation surrounding his absence, Stalin asserted that his connection with the people remains stronger than any position in the legislature, stressing that public support is the true measure of political relevance.
The exchange escalated further after Udhayanidhi Stalin posted a message on X referring to a wife searching for her husband at the Chengalpattu court. The post was widely interpreted as an indirect reference to reports concerning a divorce plea allegedly involving Vijay's wife, Sangeetha.
The post drew criticism from political observers and social media users alike, with many arguing that personal matters should not be dragged into political exchanges.
The developments come as both the ruling TVK and the opposition DMK continue to engage in sharp political sparring, with the possibility of Stalin's return to the Assembly emerging as a major talking point in Tamil Nadu politics.
