Red Cross Holds State-level Competitions for Students

Under the guidance of Rajasekaran, chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society (Tamil Nadu state branch), and in the presence of vice-chairman Muthukumar, Shanthi, deputy director of the directorate of school education, inaugurated the competitions

Chennai: To mark Geneva Convention Day, the Tamil Nadu state branch of Indian Red Cross Society organised state-level speech, essay and drawing competitions for Junior Red Cross (JRC) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) students.

Under the guidance of Rajasekaran, chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society (Tamil Nadu state branch), and in the presence of vice-chairman Muthukumar, Shanthi, deputy director of the directorate of school education, inaugurated the competitions.

First prize winners at district-level competitions participated in the events at Chennai.

Speech, essay and drawing competitions were organised to raise awareness among students and winners will be honoured with certificates and prizes that will be presented by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who is also chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu state branch.

Indian Red Cross Society (Tamil Nadu state branch) management committee members — Manickam (Chengalpet), Syed Abuthahir (Dindigul), Mayakkannan (Kallakurichi) and Senthilkumar (Krishnagiri) participated. Red Cross development officer Uma Maheswari and other officials made the arrangements for the competitions.
