PM Modi Vows to End 'Corruption, Dynasty Politics' of DMK

A strong and united NDA is Tamil Nadu's preferred option. People want good governance, not the corruption and dynasty politics of DMK, Modi said

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that a strong and united National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is Tamil Nadu’s preferred option, contrasting it with what he described as the “corruption and dynasty politics” of the ruling Dravidra Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

“A strong and united NDA is Tamil Nadu's preferred option. People want good governance, not the corruption and dynasty politics of DMK!” PM Modi wrote on X while sharing highlights of his Friday programme.

Addressing a rally in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister targeted the DMK-led alliance, claiming that the countdown for its exit from power has begun and that a BJP-NDA government will be formed in the state.

Taking several jibes at the DMK, PM Modi alleged that the party has betrayed the trust of the people and is deeply involved in corruption. He said people have begun referring to the DMK government as the “CMC government”.

“You gave DMK a full majority twice, but they broke the trust of the people of Tamil Nadu. DMK made heaps of promises but delivered zero work,” he said. Explaining the term, Modi added that CMC stands for “Corruption, Mafia, and Crime”.

He further claimed that the people of Tamil Nadu have now decided to uproot both the DMK and what he called the CMC government, asserting that a BJP-NDA “double-engine government” is certain to come to power in the state.

PM Modi also alleged that the current Tamil Nadu government lacks democratic values and accountability.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin hit back, mocking the BJP’s “double engine government” slogan by calling it a “Dappa engine” that “won’t run” in Tamil Nadu.

In a post on X, Stalin claimed that states without the BJP’s so-called double-engine governments are the ones “soaring high” in terms of development.
