Pet Shops In Tamil Nadu Told To Register Outlets Before Oct 1
An official press release on Monday said that the registration of pet shops was mandatory as per the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s notification GSR 844(E), dated September 6, 2018, and all dog breeding and selling establishments must also register as per the Ministry’s notification GSR 496(E) dated May 23, 2017, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Dog Breeding and Marketing) Rules, 2017.

Chennai:All pet shops operating in the State have been instructed to register with the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Pet Shop) Rules, 2018, before October 1 or face legal action.
An official press release on Monday said that the registration of pet shops was mandatory as per the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s notification GSR 844(E), dated September 6, 2018, and all dog breeding and selling establishments must also register as per the Ministry’s notification GSR 496(E) dated May 23, 2017, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Dog Breeding and Marketing) Rules, 2017.
While a few pet shops and dog breeding and selling establishments had registered with the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board, those establishments that have not yet registered are requested to immediately download the application forms from the website mentioned below and submit the filled-in applications by September 30, the release said.
