‘People Will Not Accept DMK Blaming SIR Voter Deletions For Poll Defeat’
But Stalin, who was the then chief minister, had himself given a "confession statement" in the Madurai meeting on how the voter list revision work had been conducted in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai: TNCC president B Manickam Tagore on Monday said the people will not accept the DMK's claim that the removal of voters under the SIR led to its defeat in the polls, as it had maintained before the Assembly polls held this year that it prevented the deletion of names of voters in Tamil Nadu.
Corruption, the deterioration of law and order, derogatory remarks about women, and the way alliance parties were treated were the reasons for the DMK's defeat in the 2026 Assembly election, Tagore alleged.
Tagore asked: "What kind of politics is it to claim before the election that the voter list revision work was completed without any problems and then shift the blame onto the voter list revision process (SIR) after the election results and the people's verdict turned against them."
In a statement, TNCC chief Tagore claimed that DMK president MK Stalin said on Feb. 21, that his party worked tirelessly 'like a top,' ensuring that no one's vote was deleted in Tamil Nadu, though names of voters were removed in various states under the SIR of electoral rolls.
On that day, Stalin had remarked that the DMK had 75,032 BLA2s, 5,50,000 Booth Level Committee (BLC) members, and 75,032 Booth Digital Agents (BDAs) and that, it is these 7 lakh people who are going to ensure the DMK's victory in the upcoming assembly elections, Tagore claimed.
The TNCC chief said that Stalin made these comments while addressing the DMK's south zone conference (My polling booth – winning polling station) of the party's booth committee members held in Madurai.
However, after the people completely rejected the DMK and handed them a defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections as well as the recent bypolls, DMK spokespersons are now claiming that the removal of voters under the SIR is the cause of their defeat.
But Stalin, who was the then chief minister, had himself given a "confession statement" in the Madurai meeting on how the voter list revision work had been conducted in Tamil Nadu.
Even in the memorandum submitted to President Droupadi Murmu, it was requested by the Opposition to cancel elections only in those states where conclusive evidence of vote theft (vote chori) had been submitted.
In West Bengal, even though then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to implement the SIR, several lakh voters were forcibly removed using the label of "infiltrators." Similarly, irregularities occurred in Assam and Bihar, and in Maharashtra and Haryana, a different kind of vote theft took place. However, in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, there were no complaints regarding the SIR.
"Unprecedented corruption, breakdown of law and order, derogatory remarks against women, and disrespecting alliance partners are the real reasons for the DMK's defeat," Tagore alleged.
Even now, while DMK spokespersons speak out against the SIR, DMK MPs have not participated in the protest demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
