Passengers Block Bus In Sriperumbudur Terminus For Late Arrival

The transport officials and police held negotiations with the people and said the Chengalpet-Sriperumbudur road was blocked due to a minor accident and the resulting quarrel.

Chennai: Hundreds of waiting passengers blocked a bus on Wednesday night at the Sriperumbudur terminus since it arrived more than two and a half hours late. The police and officials pacified the protesters by explaining that all the buses were caught in traffic congestion due to a road accident.

On Wednesday, the passengers who arrived at around 5.30 pm were forced to wait till 8.15 pm for the arrival of the bus. Since the crowd was heavy, they were not able to enter the bus. The passengers decided to besiege the bus to get an explanation from the transport officials.

Since the bus was blocked, other vehicles queued up on the road leading to heavy traffic congestion. The transport officials and police held negotiations with the people and said the Chengalpet-Sriperumbudur road was blocked due to a minor accident and the resulting quarrel. They assured that the remaining buses would come immediately and asked the people to withdraw the protest. The police also removed the protesters and cleared the traffic.
