Nainar Slams Spending Rs 6.17 cr for Temporary Shifting of CM Vijay's Office
He also questioned the expenditure in the backdrop of the government’s announcement to construct a new secretariat at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore
Tirunelveli: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran has criticised the TVK Government for spending Rs 6.17 crore for the temporary relocation of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s office to the 10th floor of the Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai buiding, alleging that the expenditure was an unjustified use of public money.
In a post on X on Monday, Nagenthran said the expenditure was revealed through information obtained under the RTI Act. He questioned the need for shifting the chief minister’s office when adequate facilities were already available at the Secretariat in Fort St. George.
He also questioned the expenditure in the backdrop of the government’s announcement to construct a new secretariat at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. He asked why such a substantial amount was being spent on a temporary arrangement when a new secretariat was proposed. The expenditure was particularly difficult to justify when farmers were struggling to protect their harvested paddy from rain due to inadequate storage facilities, opined Nagenthran, who hence urged the government to avoid such lavish expenditure and suggested utilising the funds for welfare and development schemes benefiting the people.
