NTK's Dharapuram Candidate Karthika Arrested During Vijay's Campaign
The police action came as Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was campaigning for TVK candidate Sathyabhama in the by-election

Tiruppur: Naam Tamilar Katchi members, including their Dharapuram candidate Karthika, were arrested on Sunday for blocking the road when they were stopped by the police from crossing the Dharapuram-Mulanur main road in Tiruppur district. The police action came as Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was campaigning for TVK candidate Sathyabhama in the by-election.
Vijay's roadshow, which began at 1 pm, passed through key areas including Udumalai Road Junction, Police Station Road, and Five Nose Road, before reaching the MGR Nagar-Veerachimangalam section next to Meenakshipuram.
At that time, the Naam Tamilar Katchi members were also campaigning in the area. It is said that the NTK members who were trying to cross the road were stopped by the police, leading to a heated argument and scuffle.
Following this, the NTK members staged a road blockade protesting against police action. Led by Tiruppur SP Srushti Singh, the police arrested NTK candidate Karthika and activists who were involved in the blockade.
Meanwhile, as an NTK campaign meeting was to be held at Kamarajapuram around 3 pm, the police arrested the activists who were trying to reach there.
The police also stopped all the vehicles used for the campaign. Later, Karthika was released.
