Ministers Participate in I-Day Special Prayers, Temple Feasts

A host of Cabinet Ministers led the events across prominent shrines in the city.

Chennai: On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department organised special worship services and community harmony feasts (Samathuva Virundhu) across major temples in Chennai under the guidance of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

Continuing the annual tradition observed on I-Day and the death anniversary of Perarignar Anna, State Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and local body representatives joined the public to dine together and distribute welfare aid, including dhotis and sarees, to the underprivileged.

A host of Cabinet Ministers led the events across prominent shrines in the city. Following prayers and feasts, the ministers and elected dignitaries handed over traditional clothing to impoverished families in the presence of HR&CE department officials and temple executive officers.
