Man to be Hanged for Repeatedly Raping his Minor Daughter in Tirunelveli
Delivering the verdict, the court observed that a father repeatedly abusing his own daughter amounted to a heinous and unforgivable crime and a grave offence against society.
Tirunelveli: In a rare judgment on Wednesday, a special court for the exclusive trial of cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act in Tirunelveli sentenced a 47-year-old man to death after convicting him of repeatedly raping and impregnating his minor daughter.
The prosecution said the accused, a labourer from Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district, had subjected his 14-year-old daughter to repeated abuse over a prolonged period. The crime came to light after the girl was found to be pregnant, following which the Nanguneri all women police registered a case under the Pocso Act and arrested him.
The trial was conducted by the Tirunelveli Pocso special court, presided over by judge Suresh Kumar, and was completed within seven months of the registration of the case. The prosecution relied on medical reports and other scientific and documentary evidence to establish the charges.

Holding that the charges had been proved beyond reasonable doubt, the court awarded death penalty and imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 on the convict.
The court directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs. 10 lakh as compensation to the victim.
