The visit focused on IITMRP’s model of connecting academic research with industry and startups, particularly in emerging technology sectors

CHENNAI: A ministerial delegation from Luxembourg, led by Minister of Economy, Small Medium Enterprises, Energy and Tourism Lex Delles, visited the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras Research Park (IITMRP) on Tuesday to explore opportunities for collaboration in digital innovation, deep technology and space technologies.

The delegation, accompanied by Luxembourg Ambassador to India Christian Biever and Luxembourg Honorary Consul in Chennai and IITMRP Board member Seturaman Mahalingam, held discussions with leaders of IIT-M and the research park on the institution’s deep-tech innovation and startup ecosystem.

The visit focused on IITMRP’s model of connecting academic research with industry and startups, particularly in emerging technology sectors.

The delegation also visited space-tech startup Agnikul Cosmos, providing an opportunity to understand India’s growing private space sector and its capabilities in launch technology.

Several startups from the IIT-M ecosystem showcased their technologies during the visit. SatLabs Space Systems presented its work on a constellation of low-cost floating ground stations aimed at reducing Earth observation data downlink delays from hours to minutes.

Susan Future Technologies showcased hydrogen-powered High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) airships designed for sustainable connectivity, surveillance and remote sensing. Solinas Integrity demonstrated AI-driven robotic technologies for underground water and sanitation infrastructure, including pipeline inspection, leak detection and the elimination of manual scavenging.

Climate-tech startup Carbelim presented its biological carbon capture technology using microalgae biotechnology to convert urban buildings and spaces into active climate assets.

The visit comes amid expanding India-Luxembourg cooperation in space and emerging technologies, with the delegation exploring ways to strengthen links between Luxembourg’s technology ecosystem and India’s deep-tech research and startup capabilities.
