Long Weekend Has Led To Delay In Pension Payment

Citing the long weekend, in which government offices had been declared holidays from September 11 to 14, as the reason for the delay in payment, the government said that all arrangements had been made for the pension payment by September 14, an official press release said.

Chennai: The State government told the 35,37,372 beneficiaries of its 12 pension schemes and 19,20,858 persons linked to the three Union Government pension schemes that their pension amounts would be dispersed through the SNA-SPARSH system by September 14

A pioneer in social security schemes, Tamil Nadu was paying pension under a dozen schemes for the aged, disabled, widows, abandoned women and agricultural workers, the release said, adding that the pension payment for beneficiaries under the Indira Gandhi National Pension scheme for the elderly and the Indira Gandhi National pension scheme for the Disabled would also be made by the same date.
