Kudankulam Nuclear Plant Leak Raises Security Concerns, Congress Seeks Probe

The documents are said to include certain maps of the nuclear power plant, supplier details, inspection records and equipment assessment reports

As reports emerge that documents related to the infrastructure of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district have allegedly been leaked on the dark web, Tamil Nadu Congress president Manickam Tagore has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate intervention and an urgent investigation.

The hacker group World Leaks is reportedly behind the alleged release. The documents are said to include certain maps of the nuclear power plant, supplier details, inspection records and equipment assessment reports.

The alleged leak has drawn condemnation from political leaders.

In a post on the issue, Tagore said the alleged leak of confidential maps and documents related to the Kudankulam plant was "deeply shocking". He also raised concerns over reports that the documents were allegedly stolen from a Reliance data centre.

Tagore said the incident raised questions about the security implications of entrusting critical responsibilities to private corporations and called for "no compromise" on national security.

He urged the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), described as the country's apex cyber-security body, and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to take responsibility for the alleged security lapse and conduct a swift investigation.
