IndiGo Plane Goes Around After Suspected Bird Hit to Preceding Flight

The flight from Port Blair had landed at Chennai around 3.25 pm and, subsequently, reported a suspected bird strike while on the taxiway.

Chennai:An IndiGo flight, arriving in Chennai from Hyderabad, was instructed to go around on Friday afternoon after the preceding flight from Port Blair reported a suspected bird strike while taxiing.

The Hyderabad–Chennai flight was on its final approach and was around one nautical mile from touchdown at approximately 3.28 pm when the go-around was initiated.

The flight from Port Blair had landed at Chennai around 3.25 pm and, subsequently, reported a suspected bird strike while on the taxiway.

Following the report, a runway inspection was required to ascertain that the runway and associated movement areas were safe for continued aircraft operations.

The Hyderabad flight was, therefore, instructed to go around as a precautionary safety measure and to facilitate the inspection.

The aircraft subsequently continued its approach and landed safely at Chennai airport at approximately 3.45 pm.
