India, Vietnam Coast Guards Hold High-Level Meeting

Chennai: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) held their seventh high-kevel meeting in Chennai on Tuesday, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation and operational coordination between the two forces.
Major General Luong Dinh Hung, Vice Commandant of the Vietnam Coast Guard, called on Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, during the ongoing visit of the Vietnamese delegation to Chennai.
The bilateral meeting was subsequently held at the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters in Chennai, with Sivamani leading the Indian delegation and Major General Hung heading the Vietnamese delegation.
The discussions provided a platform for both sides to deliberate on matters of mutual interest and explore ways to further deepen cooperation between the two maritime forces.
The talks focused on enhancing professional cooperation, strengthening maritime engagements and improving operational coordination between the ICG and VCG.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained engagement and closer cooperation to contribute towards maintaining a safe, secure and sustainable maritime environment.
The meeting assumes significance amid growing maritime cooperation between India and Vietnam, particularly in areas involving professional exchanges, maritime security and coordinated engagement at sea.
The seventh round of the High-Level Meeting underscored the importance attached by both countries to continued interaction between their coast guard forces and strengthening their bilateral maritime partnership.
