This year the youth, particularly Gen Z, are making their presence felt in the country’s political landscape. Their expectations, aspirations and growing engagement with public affairs are likely to influence the way politics evolves in the coming years. Having grown up in a digital world, they seek more transparency, better communication and direct engagement from political parties and leaders. While social media will continue to be an important platform for political mobilisation, campaigning and debate, misinformation and online polarisation will remain major challenges.
On the other hand, technology is reshaping everyday life at an unprecedented pace. Artificial Intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept as it is increasingly being embraced across sectors like education, healthcare, business and governance. AI is changing the way we work, communicate and make decisions. People have begun learning to use AI as a tool to improve productivity, creativity and efficiency. However, its growing influence raises concern about privacy, ethics, jobs and human judgment. How do we embrace AI responsibly? How do we ensure that technology remains a tool to empower people and not replace human values that guide society? India at 80 is straddling two worlds. One deeply rooted in its history and traditions and another driven by technology, young aspirations and quick change. However, the challenge is to ensure that this transformation remains inclusive and sustainable, while staying firmly rooted in the democratic values on which our nation was built.
