DMK Backs Rahul Gandhi Over Vijay for PM Post, Questions TVK’s Pitch
Elangovan supported Congress leader Rajesh Kumar's remarks regarding prime ministerial candidate, questioning TVK's rationale in positioning its leader for the top post

Chennai: DMK leader T K S Elangovan on Monday backed the Congress's stance on projecting Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate over Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Speaking to PTI Videos, Elangovan supported Congress leader Rajesh Kumar's remarks regarding prime ministerial candidate, questioning TVK's rationale in positioning its leader for the top post.
"Congress is a major political party in the country and has ruled the nation for years. How can TVK want to project Vijay as the Prime Ministerial candidate? What the Congress leadership says is right," Elangovan said.
Reacting to Congress MP Manickam Tagore calling a recent prime ministerial opinion poll fake, the DMK leader concurred, terming it a "manipulated opinion poll" that did not reflect views from across all states.
On the demand by milk producers to raise the milk procurement price to Rs 44 per litre due to rising input costs, the DMK spokesperson expressed concern over the financial fallout on consumers.
"The TVK government is going to increase the prices of milk and put the burden on the people. It will not bear the difference in cost increase," Elangovan added.
