Historic City of Madurai Is Getting Makeover by Corporation
The Corporation’s engineering, town planning, city health and education departments are planting and maintaining tree saplings at locations identified through surveys

Madurai: With the help of private participation and corporate social responsibility funds, the corporation is carrying out greening works, roundabout beautification works, mural work on compound walls and maintenance work of certain facilities.
Nursery/plantation areas have been established initially at places such as Rajaji Park Higher Secondary School campus and Thamukkam Road officers’ quarters campus.
Under private participation, round-terrain beautification works are being carried out and maintained in front of Dindigul Fatima College, Thirupparankundram Road junction, Thirupparankundram Road – Kovil junction and Dindigul Road. Under the same scheme, ornamental plants have been planted in the centre medians of Anna Nagar Road and K.K. Nagar Road.
Compound wall beautification work is being carried out below the Natham flyover, in front of Anna Maligai.
CSR funds are being used for maintenance work of 14 Amma canteens belonging to the Corporation, apart from flyovers.
The area in front of the east tower of Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman temple and Meenakshi Park are being maintained with CSR funds.
In the Vandiyur areas, tree saplings are also being planted along the banks of the Vaigai river.
