Get Out, DMK and BJP Clash on X
Along with the campaign on X, both the parties resorted to a poster war on the streets and many wall posters appeared in various places asking Modi and Stalin to get out.

Chennai: A hashtag war between the DMK and BJP has been raging on X with the DMK social media wing starting it on Thursday with a ‘Get Out Modi’ shut out and the BJP retaliating on Friday with a ‘Get Out Stalin’ slogan following a slanging match between Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and BJP State President K Annamalai.
Speaking at a function, Annamalai said that he would pull out the bricks of Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters, one after the other during his tenure in the State, provoking Udhayanidhi Stalin to challenge him to do it by coming to Anna Salai and also making a statement that unlike the past when the people said ‘Go Back Modi’ now they would say ‘Get Out Modi.
Hitting back, Annamalai challenged Udhayanidhi to say ‘Get Out Modi’ if he had the courage, which prompted the DMK to trend the hashtag ‘Get Out Modi’ for one full day on Thursday with supporters of the party posting messages one after the other and triggering the online fight.
After watching the ‘Get Out Modi’ trending all day, Annamalai declared a war on X, telling the DMK supporters that on Friday they would start their campaign at 7 am. They did it and by the evening of the day #GetOutStalin and also #GetOutStalin2026 were trending with people posting diverse comments and even putting out their photographs wearing T-shirts with legends against the DMK.
Along with the campaign on X, both the parties resorted to a poster war on the streets and many wall posters appeared in various places asking Modi and Stalin to get out.
Even as the war of words between the two parties raged, the new party in the State, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) too trended a hashtag #TVKforTN and that too was drawing eyeballs. One of the posts portrayed two tombs, one of the DMK and the other of the BJP, with the party founder president Vijay posing beside them.
However, many politicians did not approve of the parties fighting it out on social media. ‘TN hashtag wars are silly!’ said Sivaganga MP, Karti P Chidambaram in his X page.
When Udhayanidhi Stalin was asked about Annamalai’s challenge, he said the present day problem of the State was different like the non-release of funds by the Union Government. If Annamalai could do something to get the funds for the State, he should do it, he said.
