The decision was taken at their meeting under the leadership of coordinators Easan Murugaswamy and P. Ayyakannu at Tiruchy on Thursday.

Tiruchy: Members of 15 farmers associations will commence their indefinite fast at Rajarathinam Stadium at Chennai from September 1 demanding Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to write off entire crop loans. The decision was taken at their meeting under the leadership of coordinators Easan Murugaswamy and P. Ayyakannu at Tiruchy on Thursday.
The meeting condemned the Chief Minister for his meagre waiving of farm loans of Rs 5000, Rs 35,000, and Rs 75000 and also for treating farmers like beggars. They pointed out that the Tamil Nadu government had enough money to buy new cars for MLAs and Rs one lakh for maintenance, but the same government is hesitating to write off farm loans. They also demanded stopping the schemes benefitting the corporates immediately. The farmers accused a section of officials of misleading the government.
