Double Murder In Tirunelveli Over Parking Dispute Between Neighbours
Naveen and Senthil Kumar are undergoing treatment at the government hospital: Reports
TIRUNELVELI: Two men were killed and two others injured in a knife attack following a dispute over parking space near a family temple at Manipuram, in Tirunelveli Town, on Tuesday.
Police said the deceased were brothers Dalton (76) and Nicholas Rajarathinam (78). Their families and that of Senthil Kumar (40) in their neighbourhood had reportedly been engaged in frequent quarrels over parking cars on a vacant plot near Senthil Kumar’s family temple.
Senthil Kumar, who works as a welder in Chennai, visited Tirunelveli on Tuesday and had an altercation with Naren, Dalton’s son, near the temple.
When Nicholas Rajarathinam intervened to make peace, an enraged Senthil Kumar allegedly took out a knife and attacked him. Dalton, who rushed out of his house on seeing his brother being stabbed, was also stabbed.
Naveen, another relative of Nicholas Rajarathinam, who tried to grab the knife from Senthil Kumar, suffered stab injuries, while Senthil Kumar was injured in the fight.
The four injured men were taken to hospital. Dalton, however, succumbed to his injuries on way to Tirunelveli government medical college hospital, while Nicholas Rajarathinam died at a private hospital in Tirunelveli Junction.
Naveen and Senthil Kumar are undergoing treatment at the government hospital.
Tirunelveli Junction police have registered a case and are investigating.
