DMK Protests Against BJP In 1500 Spots

On the fishermen issue, the DMK said the Union Government was unable to find a resolution to the regular attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and could not retrieve Katchatheevu.

Chennai: The DMK organized protests at over 1500 venues all over the State against the BJP government’s zero allocation of funds in the Union Budget for Tamil Nadu, raising a slew of questions against the Centre over the refusal of funds despite collecting taxes and accusing the opposition AIADMK of standing by the betrayal.

Describing the protest as a war for the State’s financial rights, the protestors said that for every rupee collected as tax from Tamil Nadu, it was getting just 29 paisa in return and pointed the partially under which Uttar Pradesh was getting Rs 2.50 and Bihar Rs 7.

The protestors called AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami as a betrayer and a slave of New Delhi and averred that they would never bow down to Delhi.
