DMK Leader Elangovan Calls Actor Vijay Slave of BJP; Slams Centre Over Keezhadi
Referring to CM Vijay's representations regarding the metro rail projects for Coimbatore and Madurai to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was in Chennai, Elangovan said, "When we asked it, they said no. Let us see what they do. If they accept, it is good for Tamil Nadu."

Chennai: Senior DMK leader T K S Elangovan on Monday called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay a "slave of the BJP".Speaking to PTI Videos, Elangovan said CM Vijay will go with the BJP only.
"Vijay is a product of the BJP. So, I don't know what kind of request Vijay is going to place before the BJP and what kind of result we are going to get. Let us wait and see," said the former DMK MP.
Dismissing the BJP's allegations that Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Tamil Nadu's language and culture are unfounded, Elangovan asserted that it is the BJP that has acted against the state's cultural interests by stalling official recognition of the Keezhadi archaeological findings.
"They have not accepted Keezhadi findings so far. They are not approving the Keezhadi findings. If they are neutral, they should have done that. They are in power now," he said.
Elangovan also condemned the treatment meted out to Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, who was allegedly barred from contacting family members upon his grandmother's death. He called such measures part of the BJP's pattern to suppress dissent.
"Whoever is fighting against them, they (BJP) will do anything to harass them," he alleged.
Backing Rahul Gandhi's proposed march to the Supreme Court demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the electoral process, Elangovan said the DMK firmly supports the agitation.
"We are with him on that issue because our leader himself had issued a statement that Gyanesh Kumar should be changed. One person is killing the whole democracy and putting every citizen of this country into trouble," Elangovan alleged, adding that the opposition will continue to fight the issue.
