DMK, AIADMK & BJP Have Come Together: Vijay
TVK president Vijay alleged that the DMK, AIADMK and BJP were acting together and criticised the ruling party during a bypoll campaign in Madurantakam.
Accusing the DMK, AIADMK and BJP colluding with each other, TVK president and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay said the earlier DMK government had tried to bury the POCSO case against octogenarian industrialist R Veeramani, who owns Gem Granites, despite having enough evidence on his involvement in the sexually abusing young minor girls.
Addressing a cheering crowd at an election rally in Madurantakam Assembly constituency where by-elections have been scheduled for October 6, Vijay targeted the DMK for attack. He said the party was continuously denigrating the TVK and its leaders were talking ill of women, which has been the tradition of that party.
Regretting that no development has reached Madurantakam located close to Chennai even 75 years after independence, he blamed it all on the previous rulers. Assuring the people that he would address the issue of the region lagging behind in infrastructural development and set right the neglect by successive regimes, he pointed to issues like lack of women’s hostels.
Raising the problems faced by farmers and others, he blamed the DMK for most of the woes of the people. Charging the AIADMK with becoming a subsidiary of the DMK despite being a branch of the BJP, he asked the crowd why the TVK should not come to power to put an end to corruption in the State.
Identifying former Chief Minister M K Stalin as his only worthy opponent, he said his questions were only directed at him and mocked at the DMK president by asking if he had used his personal money to build bridges and other infrastructure that he had claimed to have been developed during his tenure.
Pointing out that that calculations of the DMK before the elections had gone awry and said that their plans capture the government through short cuts would also not fructify, he said the equation that he had with the people of the State was based on love that transcended politics.
Crediting his success in films and also in politics to the people of the State, he said starting from children to elders in every household everyone was his personal relative and the DMK even if it had the support of the AIADMK would not be able to defeat him in the elections.
Referring to the criticism of the people and political parties that he could not give only 3 LPG cylinders per household despite promising 6 cylinders in the election manifesto, he said he was struggling to fulfil the promises due to financial constraints.
Presenting himself as a friend of the people and the agriculturists, he regretted that the AIADMK cadre were feeling uncomfortable because they were forced to be covert allies of the DMK, whose leaders had denigrated M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa constistently.
Citing that discomfort as a reason for the TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel defecting from the AIADMK, Vijay told the supporters of AIADMK not to worry as he was there to protect them and take care of their interests.
The DMK that was the enemy of MGR and Jayalalithaa in those days and was now the enemy of the TVK, too, he said making a bid to earn the support of AIADMK cadre.
