Dhanush Setting The Stage For Political Entry

Rumours of popular Tamil film actor Dhanush preparing the ground for his entry into politics: REports

CHENNAI: Rumours of popular Tamil film actor Dhanush preparing the ground for his entry into politics is the latest buzz in both the political corridors and tinsel town of the State that have send shivers down the spines of established political parties and the ruling TVK for many reasons, including the fact that he is the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth whose latest blockbuster, ‘Jailor 2,’ is cracking the box office.

That the political parties have taken note of the possibilities of a new kid on the block changing the political equations upside down is the recent invitation extended to Dhanush by AIADMK leader and former Minister K T Rajendra Balaji to join his party. Rajendra Balaji offered a top post at a meeting in Sivakasi which led to the speculations over the 43-year-old actor’s reported aspirations gaining traction in the political world.

Earlier, on September 4, when Dhanush posted a cryptic message on social media expressing his greeting on Krishan Jayanthi, the tongues started wagging. But what gave credence to the speculations was the visible preparations for a massive project to reach out to the people.

The first indication of Dhanush having taken inspiration for TVK founder C Joseph Vijay was his renaming of his fans club as ‘narpani mandrarm’ (welfare association) at Coimbatore, sending across the message that his fans would start social service and not confine themselves to promoting his films and film persona.

Attended by over 3000 office-bearers of the ‘narpani mandram,’ the meeting at Coimbatore laid emphasis on discipline, social service and social responsibility. Though there was no confirmation from Dhanush on his soon to be launched political project that reportedly aimed at contesting the 2031 Assembly elections, the lack of any denial from his side on the reported registration of a political party going by the name ‘Tamilaga Eluchi Kazhagam,’ strengthened the swirling rumours.

Also the reports of Dhanush camping in New Delhi to prepare the ground for his political start-up came to give life to the conjectures over his political aspirations, fuelled by his wife’s family that has reportedly resented Rajinikant backing out of his plans to launch a party some years ago. Now that Rajinikanth’s popularity had gone up and Dhanush too had emerged as a seasoned actor, it is felt that in another five years he could be the Chief Ministerial candidate in Tamil Nadu.

On his part the actor with a reported net worth of R 230 crore had done well so far in his career bagging six national awards and the national film award in the special category for his performance in the Tami film, ‘Captain Miller,’ very recently.

However, some sources close to the actor claim that Dhanush had no intentions of entering politics but was only keen on strengthening his film career.
