Cong Wants DMK To Be In INDIA Coalition?
Rahul Gandhi put out a message on X on Friday saying that the two parties would fight for the very soul of our democracy, and we will wage it together, until we win.

Chennai: When Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tells DMK president M K Stalin, ‘Our shared resolve to defend the idea of India, our Constitution and federalism will continue to guide us,’ the question arises if the Congress actually wants the DMK to continue in the INDIA coalition, from which the State party distanced itself after the development that followed the Assembly elections.
Breaking a decade-long association with the DMK, the Congress party in the State aligned with the TVK that formed the government and even got two ministerial berths for its MLAs who actually won the seats in an alliance with the DMK. Even during the elections Rahul Gandhi did not canvass for DMK candidates.
So when the INDI Alliance convened a meeting of its constituent parties in New Delhi on June 8, the DMK did not participate in the proceeding and later accused the Congress of backstabbing the ally in the Assembly election.
In such a backdrop, Rahul Gandhi put out a message on X on Friday saying that the two parties would ‘fight for the very soul of our democracy, and we will wage it together, until we win.’ The message was part of a reply to Stalin’s birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi on Friday.
Rahul Gandhi’s response to the greetings from Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay said ‘We remain united in our commitment to the Constitution and to strengthening our democracy and together we keep working for the welfare, dignity and aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu.’
The messages read together convey the plans of Congress to work in tandem with the DMK to fight the BJP government at the Centre and to work with the TVK in Tamil Nadu.
In all his replies to leaders of the various State parties who had greeted him, Rahul Gandhi had pledged to work unitedly. To Kanimozhi, he just has gratitude for the thoughtful wishes.
