Coimbatore: Woman With Mental Disability Allegedly Assaulted, Stray Dogs Chase Away Attacker

Coimbatore: A young man allegedly assaulted a woman with mental disabilities in the middle of the road in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, in an attempted sexual assault that took place around 2 am on Thursday beneath a railway bridge on the national highway in the Thudiyalur area.
According to reports, the accused, was walking along the road when he noticed the woman lying by the roadside. After allegedly ensuring that no one else was around, he approached her.
The woman, who has mental disabilities and lives on the streets, became frightened and screamed for help. However, there was no one nearby to come to her aid.
When the accused allegedly grabbed her, the woman tried to resist, but he overpowered her and attempted to assault her.
The situation changed when two stray dogs on the road intervened. After seeing the man attack the woman, the dogs began barking and charged at him. When he did not release the woman, the dogs bit him and chased him away.
The incident came to light after CCTV footage of the attack emerged. Police subsequently arrested Bhoopathi in connection with the alleged attempted sexual assault. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
CCTV footage showing the stray dogs coming to the woman’s aid has since been widely shared on social media.
