CM Vijay Hands Over Job Orders to Families of Karur Stampede Victims

Karur: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday handed over compassionate appointment orders to members of 31 families affected by the stampede here. In addition, he gave a relief of Rs 10 lakh to K Shanthi, wife of Kandasamy of Erode, whose son died in the stampede that claimed 41 lives during a TVK rally addressed by Vijay on September 27, 2025.

During his first official visit to Karur since he took charge as Chief Minister in May, Vijay consoled the families of the 41 victims who lost their lives in the stampede.
The beneficiaries were provided jobs as junior assistant, office assistant and night watchman in the school education, revenue, rural development, urban affairs, police, registration and town panchayats departments, and at the Karur collectorate.
Earlier, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, while permitting the state government to provide compassionate appointments to the families of the 41 victims, ruled that the appointments should be on a temporary basis.
Public Works and Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister K A Sengottaiyan, Dairy Development Minister C Vijayalakshmi, Congress MP Jyothimani, Chief Secretary M Saikumar, Karur District Collector C Muthukumaran and senior government officials were present.
