The plans for holding a road show is under discussion but not yet finalised, Minister Mohammed Pervez said on Sunday.

Chennai: With by-poll in Viralimalai Assembly constituency in Pudukottai district looming on the horizon, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is to open the new bus stand for the district headquarters, a sports stadium and provide welfare assistance for a value about Rs. 100 crore. The plans for holding a road show is under discussion but not yet finalised, Minister Mohammed Pervez said on Sunday.
About 4,000 police personnel have been deployed for security arrangements and the district administration has ordered the closure of Tasmac shops on his route. Addressing the media at Pudukottai, the minister said Joseph Vijay had visited Pudukottai as early as 2009 and this would be his first visit as the Chief minister. The welfare assistance would include ration cards and housing pattas and the Chief Minister would also lay the foundation stone for upcoming schemes in the district.
The TVK leader will visit Erode district on Nov. 3 and provide welfare assistance to the people, Minister Vijay Balaji said, adding the plans for the roadshow are at the discussion level. The decks for by-poll in Perundurai in the district had been cleared by the Madras High Court and the constituency will face the elections in the next round.
The plans to visit Ambasamudram, another constituency going for the by-poll is under discussion and partymen say it could be the second or third week of this month. There will be separate visits to Viralimalai constituency where former AIADMK minister C. Vijayabaskar who resigned the MLA post and joined the TVK is likely to be the ruling party candidate.
Vijayabaskar has already started his field work in the constituency and most of the AIADMK functionaries are with him. Besides, two DMK union panchayat secretaries who were expelled too joined the TVK. The former AIADMK minister has his personal clout in the area, and he polled 51.87 per cent votes to register an impressive win in the Assembly elections.
The TVK secured 21.43 per cent votes while the DMK was pushed to the third position with 19.81 per cent votes. Though Vijayabaskar is in a strong wicket in Viralimalai, Joseph Vijay’s election campaign is expected to widen the victory margin. TVK ally, the Congress too has a presence in the area as it has garnered 3.78 per cent votes in the Assembly segment when it contested alone in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
In Ambasamudram, the AIADMK nominee Isakki Subbaiah polled 34.3 per cent votes and is considered a candidate with personal influence in the area. The TVK finished in the third place with28.04 per cent while the DMK bagged 28.95 per cent votes. Both the Congress and MDMK has considerable support in Ambasamudram and it could add to the TVK votes.
