CM To Skip Vaiko’s Book Release In Delhi

The Tamil translation would be released in Chennai with the Chief Minister doing the honours.

Chennai: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is not attending Vaiko’s book release function in New Delhi on August 4 as he was busy with his other engagements that week, including the visit to Bengaluru to hold talks with his Karnataka counterpart D K Shivakumar on wide range of issues, including the proposed dam at Mekedatu.

Explaining the reason behind the change in plan of Vijay’s visit to Delhi, where he had earlier agreed to receive the first copy of his book in English containing his speeches in Parliament, Vaiko told the media on Monday at the Secretariat that he himself had told the Chief Minister personally that his presence at the event could draw huge crowds making its organization difficult.

After meeting Vijay at the Secretariat, Vaiko said the Chief Minister had agreed to release the Tamil translation of the book, which would be completed in a month’s time. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would launch the English version at New Delhi on August 4 with Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav receiving the first copy, Vaiko said.

The Tamil translation would be released in Chennai with the Chief Minister doing the honours. The date, venue and the personalities who would receive the first copy of the book would be announced officially later.
