CHENNAI: With less than a fortnight left for the April 23 Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) appointed Abin Dinesh Modak, an IPS officer of the 1997 batch, as the Chennai City Police Commissioner, replacing A Arun, on Friday
An ECI press release said that the transfer was affected after reviewing the poll preparedness in the State and the officer transferred out of his present job should not be assigned any election related work.
Already the ECI had transferred out DGP Venkatraman and DGP Davidson Devasirvatham besides several superintendents of police.
