BJP Urges CM Vijay To Introduce Digital Payment For Local Taxes

Tiruchy: The Tamil Nadu BJP advocates wing has appealed to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to introduce the digital payment system for paying property taxes, obtaining birth and death certificates and other taxes related to local bodies administration, especially in corporations, municipalities and town panchayats.
In his memorandum, BJP’s state advocates wing secretary Mariappan pointed out that in Tiruchirappalli Corporation, the authorities insist that people pay cash for all their requirements and hesitate to implement the Union government’s instruction on payment through UPI and other digital payment systems.
Because of this, the general public are severely affected, he explained.
He wanted the Chief Minister to instruct the officials of the Tiruchirappalli Corporation to accept digital payment to ensure simplicity, transparency and zero corruption.
