BJP MLA Questions Need For Delimitation Resolution, Calls For TN Unity
MLA Bhojarajan alleged that attempts were being made to divide the people of Tamil Nadu along north-south lines.
Chennai: BJP MLA Bhojarajan said his party had felt that there was no need for the special resolution brought by the Chief Minister in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on delimitation.
Speaking to reporters, Bhojarajan said changes were inevitable and that representation would have to be based on population growth. Pointing out the complexities involved in delimitation, he said the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency itself covered parts of four districts.
He alleged that attempts were being made to divide the people of Tamil Nadu along north-south lines.
Referring to VCK leader Vanniyarasu’s remarks, Bhojarajan said it was not acceptable to suggest that the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister would keep changing their positions on the issue.
He also criticised minister Adhav Arunraj S remarks on the matter. Bhojarajan said he had intended to oppose such views and raise the issue in the Assembly, but was unable to do so.
He stressed the need for unity among people and political forces in the State, saying that if Tamil Nadu remained united, it would be possible for a person from Tamil Nadu or South India to become the Prime Minister in the future.
“Change is the only permanent thing. We have to work according to the increase in population,” he said, while emphasising the importance of maintaining unity in Tamil Nadu.
