BJP leader La Ganesan No More
The 80-year-old leader, who had earlier been Governor of Manipur and also held additional charge of West Bengal after getting gubernatorial assignments under the present Union Government, was associated with the RSS since his youth and remained unmarried.

Chennai:Governor of Nagaland and veteran BJP leader La Ganesan passed away on Friday at a private hospital in Chennai, where he was admitted in an unconscious state on August 8 after sustaining head injuries in a fall at his home in T Nagar.
The 80-year-old leader, who had earlier been Governor of Manipur and also held additional charge of West Bengal after getting gubernatorial assignments under the present Union Government, was associated with the RSS since his youth and remained unmarried.
In the BJP he had held several posts including the State President, national secretary and vice president and was a well-known face of the party in the State due to his regular appearance in debates and discussions since the advent of television journalism, besides being a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Governor R N Ravi and Chief Minister M K Stalin led the State in condoling the death of Ganesan, hailing from Tamil Nadu. Stalin visited the home of Ganesan, where the body was kept for public viewing, and paid his last respects by placing a wreath, along with a few of his party and ministerial colleagues.
In his condolence message, Stalin said that Ganesan had great respect for M Karunanidhi, who had visited Ganesan at his home to greet him for his birthday. He described the BJP leader as simple and soft-spoken.
Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Edappadi K Palaniswami, condoling the passing of Ganesan, said he was a kind person who treated all with love and affection.
The State BJP president Nainar Nagenthiran announced the cancellation of all BJP related events for one week to pay respect for the departed leader and former State president K Annamalai said that Ganesan had great respect for Tamil culture.
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who called him a ‘true nationalist,’ leaders across the political spectrum paid tributes to him. Deputy Chief Minister Udhaynidhi Stalin said he was saddened to hear about his passing and PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss also paid his condolences.
