Betraying TN Is BJP’s Habit: CM

The April 23 elections to the State Assembly would decide if Tamil Nadu wanted democracy or autocracy and also find out who would be the winner in the ongoing fight between Tamil Nadu and Delhi: Chief Minister M K Stalin

CHENNAI: Describing AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami as the principal slave handpicked by the BJP to usher in a disaster called NDA through the backdoor into Tamil Nadu, DMK president and Chief Minister M K Stalin said that it had become a routine for the BJP to betray the State and a habit of the AIADMK to facilitate it.

Speaking at a campaign meeting in Pudukottai on Saturday to canvas votes for four DMK candidates and two other nominees of the Progressive Democratic Alliance in the region, Stalin said the April 23 elections to the State Assembly would decide if Tamil Nadu wanted democracy or autocracy and also find out who would be the winner in the ongoing fight between Tamil Nadu and Delhi.

He said Ministers in the NDA government who regularly visited Tamil Nadu, like Piyush Goel and Dharmendra Pradhan, had been repeatedly vowing to bring in the three-language formula in education with a view to imposing Hindi on the State and never had Palaniswami uttered a single word against such averments.

Pradan was also out to safronise education and the Union Government had deprived the children of Tamil Nadu the funds due to them for the studies and telling the State government to implement the three-language formula if it wanted the release of Rs 2000 crore, Stalin said, adding that he would not allow Hindi imposition even if they were to give Rs 10,000 crore.

He said that he rejected the offer in the interest of the education of the State’s children but if it had been Palaniswami he would not have raised his voice against Hindi imposition, which was part of the long-term agenda of the RSS. Such tactics were being adapted to drive Tamil Nadu’s children out of schools and prevent them from developing a scientific temper.

It was an attempt to make the people retrograde in their thinking and let a small group of people take away the opportunities the society offered, as it was in the past, which Palaniswami approved of as he had supported the CAA and the Waqf Board Act in the past and was all set to support the amendments to the FCRA, he said.

Even now the country was in the grip of an LPG crisis with people asking, ‘Modiji, where is LPG,’ but Palaniswami had never ever spoken about it, he said and added that for the continuation of the plethora of social welfare schemes launched by the DMK the people would have to vote for the DMK and its allies in the elections.
