Become AI Creators, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Urges VIT Grads
The Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said many of society’s pressing problems could be solved when government and graduates work in tandem.
Vellore: India must transform itself into a creator of AI, rather than remain merely a consumer of it, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday.
She was speaking as chief guest at the 41st convocation of VIT University, Vellore, that was presided over by VIT Chancellor G. Viswanathan.
The Chief Minister said many of society’s pressing problems could be solved when government and graduates work in tandem. Citing Delhi’s experience, she said the city had found solutions to challenges such as pollution, traffic congestion and waste management by partnering with IITs.
VIT Chancellor Viswanathan, touching upon a whole host of issues in the education sector, appealed to newly-appointed Union education minister, Pralhad Joshi, to help coordinate between Governors and states in appointing vice-chancellors.

The ceremony held a personal moment for Rekha Gupta, as her son, Nikunj Gupta, graduated alongside his batchmates.
Earlier, she inaugurated a Centre for Advanced Research for Bacteriophage and Infectious Diseases at VIT.
The ceremony was attended by VIT vice-presidents Sankar Viswanathan and Sekar Viswanathan, G.V. Selvam, executive director Sandhya Pentareddy, assistant vice-president Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Ramani Balasundaram, vice-chancellor V.S. Kanchana Bhaskaran, pro-vice-chancellor Parthasarathy Mallik, and registrar T. Jayabharathi.
