Anbumani Ramadoss Attacks DMK

Among the unfulfilled promises, compiled in the comprehensive booklet.

Chennai: Accusing the DMK government of cheating and failing to honour the promises given to people during the 2021 Assembly elections, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss came out with a detailed report titled ‘Vidiyal Enge? (Where is the Dawn) claiming that only 66 of the total 505 promises in the election manifesto were honoured in the last over four years.

The more than 100 page document, released at a press conference in Chennai on Tuesday, said the fully honoured promises worked out to only 13 percent of the manifesto, while 87 per cent of them remained unfulfilled.

Claiming that his report was compiled on the basis of verified data, Anbumani Ramadoss said the DMK promised the sky but delivered next to nothing and that reneging in the promises was a betrayal of public trust.

Among the unfulfilled promises, compiled in the comprehensive booklet, listing each of them with their original number in the manifesto, were the failure to create 3 lakh jobs, cancellation of student education loans, farm loan waivers, Rs 100 cooking gas subsidy, and the restoration of the old pension scheme for government employees.

Even the promise to unravel the mystery behind the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was not honoured, said Anbumani Ramadoss, whose contention was that the promises were not insignificant ones but formed the core of the DMK’s appeal to the masses, who were taken for a ride through the promises.

By likening the DMK’s performance based on his assessment to the academic scorecard of a student, the PMK president said the ruling had failed miserably as a student needed 35 per cent marks to pass an examination, while the DMK had scored just 13 per cent.

Another scathing attack on the DMK was that it came to power by exploiting public sentiments through its unrealistic and pompous promises and then leaving them disappointed without any remorse.

He said that the people had not forgotten the deception of the DMK and would teach the party a lesson in the 2026 Assembly election by handing out an appropriate mandate.
