Actors, Leaders Condole Death of Director K. Bhagyaraj

Tributes pour in as actors, filmmakers and leaders remember the legendary storyteller’s lasting legacy

Condolences poured in from across the film fraternity and political circles following the demise of veteran filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj, widely regarded as a master of screenplay and storytelling.

Actor Venkatesh Daggubati expressed deep sorrow, stating that Bhagyaraj’s work transcended languages and touched millions. He recalled his association in films like Sundarakanda and Abbaigaru, calling it a privilege to work with such a remarkable storyteller.

Film producer G. Dhananjheyan said he was “deeply shocked and devastated,” remembering Bhagyaraj as a close friend and strong support in the industry.

Choreographer-actor Raghava Lawrence described his contribution to cinema as unforgettable, adding that his work inspired generations. Actor Sibi Sathyaraj called him the “king of screenplay,” terming his demise a huge loss to the film industry.

Political leaders also paid tribute. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, general secretary of the AIADMK, expressed shock and described Bhagyaraj as a multifaceted personality, recalling his close association with former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran.

Tamil Nadu Governor Arlekar condoled the death, stating that Bhagyaraj’s creative brilliance and unique storytelling earned him a special place in the hearts of audiences, and that his legacy would continue to inspire generations.

The passing of K. Bhagyaraj marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, leaving behind a rich legacy that shaped storytelling across languages.
