Aavin Hikes Prices of Ghee, Butter, and Milk By-Products Across TN

The revised rates for a total of 67 Aavin products were set to come into effect across the state starting October 28

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Ltd, Aavin, has announced a revision in the selling prices of several milk by-products, including butter and ghee.

The revised rates for a total of 67 Aavin products were set to come into effect across the state starting October 28.

According to the official circular, released on Tuesday, the price hike has been necessitated by a notable increase in raw material costs, procurement expenses, and other associated operational expenditures.

The revised pricing impacts a wide range of popular items, including butter, ghee, khova, and traditional sweets like gulab jamun and rasagulla.

Under the new tariff structure, the price of butter is revised to Rs 70 for 100 grams, while ghee prices now range from Rs 55 for a 50 ml jar up to Rs 4,000 for a 5-litre pack.

Institutional and bulk buyers will also see price changes, with a 15 kg tin of ghee priced at Rs 13,000.

Popular sweets have also seen a price markup. Gulab jamun now costs Rs 60 for 125 grams and Rs 115 for 250 grams.

Rasagulla is priced at Rs 50 for 100 grams and Rs 95 for 200 grams.

The upward revision is expected to impact household monthly grocery budgets across the state as families adjust to the newly enforced rates.
