78% Voter Forms Distributed in Tamil Nadu: ECI

211445 Booth Level Agents are appointed by the Recognised Political parties

Chennai: Distribution of elector specific Enumeration Forms (EFs) as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls has been completed in the case of 78.09 percent voters in the State till November 12, 3.30 pm, an Election Commission of India (ECI) communique said on Wednesday.

Of the total 6,41,14,687 voters in the rolls, 5,00,67,045 had been covered by the Booth Level Officers appointed by the Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) with the approval of District Election Officers, the release said.

As far as the appointment of Booth Level Agents, which is done by all recognized political parties goes, the ECI has issued a modified criteria.

Normally, a registered elector in the relevant part of the electoral roll shall be a Booth Level Agent. Now, in case of unavailability of Booth level Agent from the same part of Electoral Roll, any registered elector of the same Assembly constituency may be appointed as Booth level agent.

Such appointed Booth Level Agent will scrutinize the entries in the draft roll of the Part for which he/she is appointed to identify the entries of electors who are dead or shifted.

In Tamil Nadu, 211445 Booth Level Agents are appointed by the Recognised Political parties.
