5-Tier Security for PM Visit, Schools Closed, Traffic Diversion on NH
The police have announced traffic diversions on the road from 11 am to 7 pm to avoid congestion.
Chennai: Five-tier security arrangements are in place at Madurantakam where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an NDA election rally on Friday.
Government and private schools around the area have declared a holiday and the police have announced traffic diversions on the Chennai-Tiruchy national highway since people and cadres will go to the meeting in hundreds of vehicles.
The entire stage and the surrounding areas have come under the watch of the Special Protection Group (SPG) and about 3,500 police personnel throughout Tamil Nadu will look after the traffic and security arrangements in their districts from where the cadres of the AIADMK, BJP and other parties will travel to Madurantakam.
The barricades on the Chennai-Tiruchy national highway are being removed to ensure free flow of traffic.

Vehicles going to Tindivanam from Chennai will be diverted through Vandalur-Kelambakkam road, near Vandalur zoo, and reach East Coast Road in Mamallapuram. They can go through Marakkanam and turn towards Tindivanam. The vehicles coming from Villupuram to Chennai should take the same route after turning at the Tindivanam-Puducherry junction.
As an alternative, the vehicles could travel through the Vandalur-Padappai road and move through Oragadam, Walajabad, Kanchipuram, Vandavasi, Thellar, Vellimedupet, Theevanur and Kooteripattu to reach the national highway again. The vehicles coming to Chennai also can take this route after turning at the Tindivanam College Road.
Vehicles starting from Guduvanchery, Maraimalai Nagar and Singeperumalkoil and going to Villupuram will be diverted from Raattinam Kinaru in Chengalpet and move through Thirukkazhukundram, Vengambakkam junction, East Coast Road and Marakkanam.
They can also go through Oragadam, Walajabad, Kanchipuram, Vandavasi, Thellar, Vellimedupet, Theevanur and Kooteripattu junction.
The rehearsal for the landing of the helicopter which would carry the Prime Minister was conducted at Madurantakam under the supervision of SPG officials.
