3 More Arrested in Veeramani Case for Abetting Sexual Assault

Police said the three persons Lazar, Parthiban and Babu had worked as car drivers for Veeramani and abetted the sexual assault of girls.

Chennai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Pocso cases against ‘Gem Granites’ Veeramani have arrested three more persons in connection with the crime.

Police said the three persons Lazar, Parthiban and Babu had worked as car drivers for Veeramani and abetted the sexual assault of girls. They had brought the victims in the car and fully supported the sexual crimes of Veeramani. Lazar was working for Veeramani for 23 years and Babu was working for the last eight years. Parthiban was working for Veeramani for sometime. The police also carried out searches in their houses and seized 8 mobile phones and 55 documents.

So far, the police have filed 5 cases of sexual assault of girls between the age of 12 to 16 by Veeramani. The police have already arrested Veeramani, his associates Shanthi and her husband Mahendra Simhan besides one Ganesan. The police have booked Veeramani, Shanthi and her husband Mahendra Simhan (63) under the Goondas Act. The police are also carrying out the investigation on the money transfers made by Veeramani in connection with the case.

Veeramani was arrested in the first case of sexually abusing a girl following a complaint by a Child Right activist in 2025. The complaint was registered on October 6 last year but the police filed a closure report on February 18 this year stating that the digital evidence was not clear.

Following the rejection of the closure report by POCSO special court judge Padmavathi Shanmugasundaram, the police arrested Veeramani on August 29 this year. Four more Pocso cases were filed following complaints received from the relatives of girls affected by Veeramani and two of the girls had committed suicide.
