Mangaluru: An auto-rickshaw driver lost his life after falling into an overflowing stormwater drain in Mangaluru on Friday night. The victim has been identified as Deepak Acharya, 42, a resident of Kuloor Ferry Road.
According to the FIR filed at Urwa police station, Acharya was on duty, driving his rickshaw when the accident happened. The complaint stated that the stormwater drain had overflowed because it was not cleaned on time by the Mangaluru City Corporation.
The overflowing water had reached road level, making it difficult to discern, and lacked necessary barricades or protective structures, contributing to the fatal accident.
