V D Satheeshan Claims UDF Will Cross 100 Mark, LDF Convener Ramakrishnan Confident Of Third Term For Pinarayi Government

Satheeshan claimed that the Congress led UDF would win more than 100 seats and his assessment was based on the political analysis of the situation in the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after the polling for Kerala assembly elections concluded, someone edited the Wikipedia page of Opposition leader VD Satheesan and described him as the 13th Chief Minister of Kerala.

The information from the edit history also shows that he occupied office on May 4, 2026 (counting day). Later, his page was edited again. Now, if we check, V D Satheesan is recorded as the Leader of the Opposition but the date of taking office is May 4, 2026.

Satheeshan claimed that the Congress led UDF would win more than 100 seats and his assessment was based on the political analysis of the situation in the state. The UDF had secured a stupendous victory, winning most by elections, local body elections and the parliamentary polls. The UDF had achieved electoral success because of the election work and organisational excellence that helped them to trounce a cadre party like the CPM.

“Many people who were sulking, many who had left the organisation were brought back into the party fold. Many social groups which were keeping a distance from the UDF, too aligned with us this time. This will reflect on May 4 when counfin the May 4 relfeclt and the result on May 4,” the opposoint leader said.

Satheeshan said after taking over as opposition leader, he accurately assessed what happened to the Congress and the UDF. “We secured an impressive win in the local body elections and are all set to come out victorious in the assembly polls, because of the silent work done by the party workers based on our correct assessment of the political situation,” he added.

AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said there is nothing wrong in party leaders aspiring for the post of Kerala Chief Minister. He said the decision would be taken after the counting of votes. “Congres is a democratic prty and anyone can express his opinion on the issue,” he said.

No anti government wave says LDF convenor

LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan said that there was no anti-government sentiment among the people in the state. “I am confident of LDF coming to power for the third consecutive term. Our people-centric welfare schemes have been widely accepted and acknowledged by the people.

He claimed that there would be continuity of government in the state. “It is not possible to say how many seats we will get. But one thing is certain, that the minority votes will not go to the UDF as is being claimed in certain quarters. This time, there has been a decrease in the number of Gulf voters, but its impact is yet to be assessed,” Ramakrishnan said.

The CPM state secretariat meeting is scheduled to take place on Saturday for a detailed analysis of the just concluded assembly polls.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrashekar stated that the people have given their mandate against both LDF and UDF. The enthusiasm shown by the people towards the BJP clearly indicates that the party is set to emerge as a decisive force in Kerala.

He added that the election results will set the stage for a two-sided political shift in Kerala, with the UDF and LDF on one side and the BJP-led NDA on the other.
