Thief Displays Heart Of Gold, Returns Stolen Chain
According to her husband, V Damodaran, a retired revenue official, Geetha could not sleep for days after losing the gold chain. He tried his best to comfort her

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Geetha, a native of Parambath in Kasatgod, was in complete distress for nine days after her thalimala (nuptial gold chain) went missing during a bus journey.
According to her husband, V Damodaran, a retired revenue official, Geetha could not sleep for days after losing the gold chain. He tried his best to comfort her.
The couple then complained to the Melaparambu police station, which sent out messages detailing the missing chain to local WhatsApp groups.
Considering the gold chain, estimated to be worth Rs 3.65 lakh, the couple had little hope of recovering it. However, on Wednesday morning, as they were leaving their house, they found the gold chain along with a handwritten note placed on the verandah.
The note read: "It's been nine days since the chain has been in my possession. When I first got it, I felt extremely happy. However, whenever I held it, I sensed a feeling of negativity, and my hands even trembled. For hours, I was lost in thought about what I should do with it. Then, I came across a WhatsApp message regarding the gold chain, which was a nuptial pendant. At that moment, I decided that the owner should not suffer because of this chain, and I resolved to return it. I do not want to reveal my identity. I apologise for keeping it with me for all these days and for the pain it caused you."
The chain went missing in the evening of August 4, while Geetha was returning home with her husband after the bus journey. Now, Geetha, who spent sleepless nights because of the loss, is eager to meet the person who showed such unexpected kindness and thank him.
