Sunny Joseph Assumes Charge As Kerala PCC Chief
Addressing the gathering after assuming charge, Joseph said the party's main task is to bring an end to the nearly 10-year misrule of LDF government.

Thiruvananthapuram: Peravoor MLA Sunny Joseph took over as Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president at a function inaugurated by AICC General Secretary organisation K C Venugopal at the party headquarters Indira Bhavan, here on Monday.
Joseph,72, succeeds veteran leader K Kudhakaran who has been elevated as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC). A large number of Congress workers assembled at the party headquarters to witness the installation of new president.
Addressing the gathering after assuming charge, Joseph said the party's main task is to bring an end to the nearly 10-year misrule of LDF government.
Apart from Joseph, the three working presidents;Shafi Parampil, P C Vishnunadh, and A P Anil Kumar also took charge on Monday. The newly appointed UDF Convenor Adoor Prakash, MP, also assumed office.
K C Venugopal said the new appointments were part of the changes that the central leadership of the Congress had envisaged in consultations with the state units. The new PCC president has been asked by the AICC to make changes quickly wherever necessary. "We will form the next government in Kerala," he said.
Outgoing president K Sudhakaran highlighted the achievements of the party during his tenure, including the increase in vote share in Lok Sabha, assembly and local bodies elections. "I will stand strongly with the party and fight the CPM led LDF government in Kerala till it is ousted from power," he said.
The outgoing president hailed the appointment of Sunny Joseph, describing him as his younger brother . "I take pride in Sunny's achievements in the political arena," he said.
Former home minister Ramesh Chennithala hailed Adoor Praksh's appointment as UDF convenor. "Adoor Prakash is a lucky mascot of the Congress. People have made up their mind to bring a UDF government to power in assembly elections next year.
He said Sunny Joseph is not a representative of any particular group in the party. He is a people's man and a hardworking leader.
Earlier, the new office bearers called on former defence minister and veteran Congress leader A K Antony and sought his blessings. Antony slammed the propaganda that Sunny Joseph was appointed PCC president to appease the Christian community and to woo them.
AICC in charge of Kerala Deepa Dasmunshi, opposition leader V D Satheeshan, K Muraleedharan Kodikuunnil Suresh and other prominent leaders attended the installation of Joseph as KPCC president.
