PM Modi Condoles Death of Renowned Playback Singer P Jayachandran
Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed grief over the demise of renowned playback singer P Jayachandran and said his soulful renditions across various languages will continue to touch hearts for generations to come.
Jayachandran, fondly known as “Bhava Gayakan,” passed away on Thursday at the age of 80.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Shri P. Jayachandran Ji was blessed with a legendary voice that conveyed a wide range of emotions. His soulful renditions across various languages will continue to touch hearts for generations to come. Pained by his passing. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this hour of grief.”
The veteran playback singer lent his voice to more than 16,000 songs across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. His accolades include a National Film Award for Best Playback Singer, five Kerala State Film Awards, four Tamil Nadu State Awards, the Kalaimamani Award, and the JC Daniel Award, Kerala’s highest honor in cinema.
